About Donna

There is the family we are given, the family we create, and the family that finds us, filling voids and creating bonds that we never could have imagined. It is this experience that I hope to explore and share with readers, as I have been doing with Maureen in our cross-country conversations for many years.

As the mother of two adult children (one annoying biological child and one internationally purchased with Russian cigarettes)**** and an active volunteer within the Massachusetts foster care system, I have spent a good part of my life contemplating, adjusting, and expanding my understanding of family and the ways that our connections can support and guide our growth. My photography is also an extension of this contemplation - a hopeful attempt to capture a moment or image that resonates with an inner place of peace and beauty.

**** NOTE: the author's original prose stated "one biological and one internationally adopted." The current wording was altered in a bold act of subterfuge by one of the cited siblings. The author defers to the reader to deduce which one.

About Maureen

Maureen is a writer, coach, corporate retiree, and spiritual neophyte. Adopted at birth, she contacted her bio family at age 40 and was delighted to find Donna foremost among its riches.

After 30+ years in San Francisco, Maureen still relies on her east coast family for all sorts of advice and refuge. Her two grown sons are learning to do the same.
