The following guidelines have been developed to provide a set of clear recommendations for guest authors as you conceptualize your submission. We appreciate your interest and fully believe that new voices will strengthen our site and benefit our readers. Subject Matter and Relevancy

Please ensure that your subject matter aligns with the tone and themes of the site. Topics that explore ideas centered on families, parenting, adoption, personal growth, life transitions, etc…are strongly preferred. Submissions that include overt political statements, inflammatory language, or hurtful/harmful ideas will not be considered. It is recommended that guest authors first read some existing posts to gain an understanding of the site’s tone and topics before offering a submission.

 

Quality and Accuracy

Any objective or fact-based information presented in your submission must be verifiably accurate and supported by credible sources. Any quotes or information directly attributable to another source must be appropriately credited and, if applicable, cited.

 

Submission Format

Please organize your submission in paragraph format with a relevant title. You may also provide a complementary photograph to accompany your submission (subject to site approval). If you choose not to provide a photo, one will be selected (subject to your approval) from the site’s photo library. If desired, you may also include a two-sentence bio about yourself, your background, or your connection to the site or its authors.

 

Submission Length

Submissions should ideally range from two to five minutes in read time (approx. 550 – 1,250 words). Lengthier submissions will be considered if the extended length provides both value and depth to the submission. 

 

Permission To Edit

To maintain consistent site standards, we may collaborate with you on the editing process to ensure a post supports our writing, subject, or aesthetic guidelines. 

 

Links

In coordination with a post, we welcome guest authors to link the site to any online platform you are associated with that aligns with the spirit and message of Two Coasts for Comfort. Examples include blogs, newsletters, social media sites, or artisan marketplaces. And we are happy to promote your platform or artistic endeavor with your published post on our site. Let’s collaborate!

Suggested Formats for Contributors:

 

1. Q&A Interview. Either transcribed or posted with video of the interview. Dividing it into parts may summon return traffic..

2. Video or photo montage, with or without voiceover.

 

3. Long form essay with photos (current format). Template(s) to help contributors begin writing is forthcoming
